EDNA SMALLWOOD

Funeral services for Mrs. Edna Smallwood, who passed away Friday morning, April 12, 1940, in the Springfield City hospital as the result of severe burns sustained from a gasoline explosion in her home in Springfield on January 28, were conducted on Sunday afternoon at the Pleasant Hill church by Rev. M. Q. Kent. Burial was made in the adjoining cemetery under the direction of Barber Funeral Home. Mrs. Smallwood was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Bowler, of Mountain Grove and was born on April 9, 1906. She was reared in this community but for the past several years had lived in Springfield. On March 18, 1923 she was married to Elmer Smallwood and to this union five children were born: Elmer Junior, Margaret Fay, Donald Lloyd, Melvin Lee and Pearl Evelyn---all of the home. Besides her husband and children she leaves to mourn their loss, her mother, 4 brothers and two sisters, a host of other relatives and friends.
