JESSE C. TATE

Jesse C. Tate was born at Hartville, Missouri March 16, 1861 and departed this life December 21, 1950 at the age of 89 years, 9 months and 5 days.  He was united in marriage to Amanda B. Zirschky March 6, 1881.  To this union were born 15 children, 6 of them preceding him in death.  Lewis Tate, and 5 died in infancy.  He wife also preceded him in death December 30, 1940.  He leaves to mourn his passing 9 children:  Ella Black and Arthur Tate of Huggins, Mo., Eda Klingensmith of Rayborn No., Vesta Crewse of Graff, Mo., Oca Allen of Granite City, Ill., Fred Tate of Rayborn Mo., Arizona Klingensmith of Bendavis, Mo., Alvin Tate of Huggins Mo. and Pearl Atchley of Granite City, Ill.; one half-sister Victoria Rayborn of Boise Idaho.  He spent his entire life in Wright and Texas counties and passed away onthe old homestead where he had lived for the past 68 years.  Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, December 21, 1950 at 1:30 p.m. at the Hopewell Church conducted by Rev. Payton Smyer.  A quartet composed of Edna Barker, Blanche Mitchem, Aude Mitchem and Buck Franklin sang "We Shall Meet Some Day", "Jesus Lover of My Soul" and "On Jordan's Stormy Banks", accompanied by Marie Mitchem at the piano.  Burial was in Watts Cemetery under direction of Grable-Windle Funeral Home.
